About Us
At the Australian Dental Anxiety Management Society (ADAMS), our mission is simple: to help people feel safe, understood, and supported when it comes to dental care.
Why ADAMS exists
Dental anxiety is incredibly common in Australia, yet it remains one of the biggest barriers preventing people from accessing the care they need. At the Australian Dental Anxiety Management Society (ADAMS), our mission is simple: to help people feel safe, understood, and supported when it comes to dental care.
Who we are
Founded in 2022, the Australian Dental Anxiety Management Society (ADAMS) is a non-profit professional organisation concerned with the scientific understanding of and the clinical management of dental anxiety. Fear is one of the most significant barriers to accessing dental care in the western world. Founded by Brisbane dentists Dr Trent Davidson and Dr Helen Fisher from Mindset Dental in Brisbane, Australia’s only dental practice solely focused on helping patients with dental anxiety, ADAMS brings together clinical experience, psychological insight, and practical tools to support both patients and professionals.
There are numerous dental anxiety management techniques, and this society helps bring together all psychological, clinical, technological and pharmacological techniques utilised by healthcare professionals in helping people overcome their fears and phobias.
ADAMS members consist of general dentists, special needs dental specialists, psychologists and enrolled students in these progressional groups. It is open to any healthcare professional that is a part of a regulated body. The Society aims to hold regular scientific meetings among its members and guests, beginning in 2026.
